(Almost) Wordless Wednesday – Hunting Hill Mansion at Ridley Creek State Park

A couple of weeks ago I was at Ridley Creek State Park near Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The park is home to the beautiful Hunting Hill Mansion. The original stone farmhouse was built in 1789 with major renovations and additions done by the Jeffords family in 1914. It can currently be rented for events such as wedding receptions. Using photoshop I turned one of my photos into a digital painting.

Burials at James Fort

Burials at James Fort

This photo, taken in July of 2012, is of burial sites within the original James Fort of the Virginia colony. These burials are believed to have occurred circa 1607. Until recently, most historians thought that the site of the original fort was now beneath the James River. But archaeologists recently discovered parts of the 3 outer walls of the fort, as well as graves and other structures that were located within the fort.
